Used necklace? But very cute otherwise

I purchased this necklace from the store and noticed that the package was already opened. I just thought maybe they needed to open it to put a price tag, but when I got home I noticed there were scuff marks on the necklace like it had been worn before or possibly placed on the floor? I guess I should’ve asked when I noticed she pulled out an open package from the bin, but I just didn’t think they would sell a used necklace… I also bought a keychain and that package was sealed and looks brand new.. so just very confused why I was given a used necklace.
