Meet this week’s muse, Emily Alben! Based in Pasadena, Emily is a home baker and sometimes film photographer. Curating monthly menus based on California’s seasonal produce, Emily sells goods ranging from peach pies to blueberry miso cookies from her home to the local community. Most importantly, Emily incorporates a 25% rotating contribution of all sales to BIPOC organizations. This month, the donation will be going to The People’s Bodega, a mutual aid project based in LA & NYC. When she's not baking or working her day job at Our Place, you can find her and her boyfriend Rob in their newly planted quarantine garden with a glass of Orange Wine, or watching true crime docs with their cat, Boots.
